YMCA Camp Thunderbird is a beautiful camp on the shores of Lake Wylie which offers 1.7 miles of South Carolina shoreline approximately half an hour from Charlotte. Offering programs since 1936, YMCA Camp Thunderbird boasts a rich history and has provided a safe, action-packed experience for generations of kids, teens and adults with the chance to make memories that last a lifetime. Days at camp are divided between adventures on land and lake, with scores of options for campers to choose that fit their age, interests and abilities. Our Bandanna Program encourages participation with rewards for campers who challenge themselves by setting goals and trying new experiences. All campers get to take part in every water activity during their stay at YMCA Camp Thunderbird.
